Char Kway Teow

CHAR KWAY TEOW/Stirfried Rice Noodles is a national favorite in Malaysia (and South East Asian countries.) This simplified version is quick to prepare and cook. With just a few ingredients and a quick toss up..you'll get a hearty dish. Serve with some Sambal Belacan. Yum!!

Ingredients

  • 4 pips garlic, minced

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

  • 150g fresh rice noodles/kway teow

  • 50g beansprouts/taugeh

  • 1tbsp dark/thick soy sauce

  • 1tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1tsp pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • 1tbsp oil for frying

Method

01 Heat oil in a pan/wok. Add minced garlic and fry for 1 to 2 mins till fragrant. Add rice noodles and fry for 2 mins. Make a well then add the beaten egg. Season with salt and pepper. Fry till omelette is cooked. Mix the rice noodles with the omelette.

02 Put in the soy sauce.

03 Add beansprouts, give it a quick stir to mix everything together and turn off flame.

04 Serve immediately with sambal.


Notes

Add some sliced Chinese sausages or clams(after cooking the egg) if you wish.
